CIVIL, SITE, OR LAND DEVELOPMENT ENGINEER

Are you a civil, structural, or architectural engineer seeking a career change? Do you want a role that broadens your skills by working on non-traditional civil engineering projects?

Giles Flythe Engineers is looking for a Professional Engineer in our North Carolina offices. The successful candidate will work on Community Association projects, including capital reserve, drainage, stormwater, and construction administration, as well as commercial projects like Property Condition Assessments (PCA) and Phase 1 Environmental Assessments. The Work You Will Perform:
  • Collaborate directly with condominium, multi-family, and single-family Community Association Managers and Boards of Directors.
  • Conduct on-site investigations to perform take-offs and evaluate buildings and site improvements.
  • Perform drainage and stormwater evaluations.
  • Develop a 30-year capital reserve plan, including life expectancy, remaining life, and maintenance costs.
  • Meet with associations and community members to review and finalize Reserve Studies and address questions.
  • Engage in additional services such as:
    • Construction administration for projects like roof, facade, siding repairs or replacements, paving, and window and door replacements.
    • Commercial real estate due diligence, including PCA's and Phase 1 Environmental Assessments.

Communicate effectively and professionally both in writing and verbally with clients, homeowners, property owners, contractors, engineers, and architects. Routine travel within the region is expected.

What You'll Need to Be Successful:
  • Minimum of five (5) years of civil, structural engineering, or construction experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an accredited program.
  • Professional Engineering license or the ability to obtain one within six months.
  • Reserve Specialist (RS) designation is a plus but not required.
  • Strong communication skills for client interaction.
  • Proven technical and report writing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Team-oriented attitude with adaptability and eagerness to learn new tasks.
  • Willingness to perform inspections on ladders and roofs; physical ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb, and maintain balance.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe, and AutoCAD.
  • Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
