Job summary

Milwaukee County is seeking an Engineer – Civil & Site Development within the Department of Administrative Services in Milwaukee, WI. The Principal Civil Engineer will provide civil, environmental, and structural planning and design services for Public Works projects and manage field surveys and construction coordination.

The role requires leading projects, coordinating with consultants and contractors, and delivering projects per the Capital Budget with day-to-day civil engineering support

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Architectural/Construction Engineering or similar.
• Wisconsin resident.
• Valid Wisconsin driver’s license during application and maintained throughout employment.
• At least 1 year of Civil, Architectural, or Construction Engineering-related experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of word processing and spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

• Perform field work including surveying and construction coordination for civil engineering projects.
• Prepare engineering designs, studies, estimates, and reports using AutoCAD Civil 3D; develop plans, drawings, specs, and cost estimates.
• Lead project meetings and manage design and construction with consultants and contractors.
• Run bid processes and award contracts following Federal, State, and County requirements.
• Support day-to-day civil engineering services to customer departments and Capital Budget projects.
