Job summary

SGM is seeking a Civil Engineer I or II in Gunnison, Colorado to perform defined engineering tasks and CAD drafting at our local office. The position emphasizes in-person collaboration and field activities, including inspections, with a strong desire for living in Western Colorado.

A BS in Civil Engineering is required, EI certification within the first year is preferred, and candidates should demonstrate organized, detail-oriented work, excellent communication, and client service skills.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field.
• EI Certification or ability to obtain in the first year of employment.
• Organized, fast learner, and detail-oriented.
• Strong familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software.
• Experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design.
• Self-review of work and understanding of review by fellow engineers.
• Produce deliverables such as plans, specifications, memorandums or reports.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Salary Range: $76,200.00 To $94,000.00 Annually

SGM is seeking a full-time Civil Engineer I or II in Gunnison, Colorado. This position is primarily in-person and based at one of our office locations. Regular in-office attendance is required and is not considered a remote role. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado!

SALARY:

Depending on experience level, the anticipated salary range for this position may be as follows: Engineer I – $76,200 - $84,500 per year / Engineer II – $80,300 – $94,000 per year

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Strong familiarity and working knowledge in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software with interest in expanding CAD knowledge base
• Experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design
• Self-review of work and understanding of review by fellow engineers
• Produce deliverables such as plans, specifications, memorandums or reports
• Enjoy working with a small, focused team
• Strong written and oral communication skills via emails, phone and in-person
• Excellent client service skills for design meetings, coordination with other consultants and the client
• Ability to coordinate and schedule other subtasks
• Valid Driver License
• Able to conduct site visits on specific inspection tasks such as erosion control
• Strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado

• Desire to provide industry-leading engineering services and become an integral part of the overall SGM team
• Surveying experience
• GPS/GIS experience
• Construction project administration and oversight experience
• Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Municipal engineering experience
• An active member of relevant professional organizations
• Demonstrated initiative and participation in community involvement and outreach
• Software experience/proficiency
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling software (HEC-RAS 2D, HEC-HMS, InfoDrainage, FLO-2D, or similar)
  • MS Office software such as Word and Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites including mountain locations.
