Job summary

SGM seeks a Civil Engineer I or II in Glenwood Springs, CO to join a small, focused team on western Colorado projects. The role includes field inspections, CAD drafting, and contributing to deliverables, with strong collaboration across the office.

The ideal candidate has a B.S. in Civil Engineering, EI certification or ability to obtain in year one, and solid experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and hydrology/hydraulic analysis. A Master’s degree and surveying/GIS experience are a plus.

Qualifications

• Executes well-defined technical and engineering tasks.
• Strong familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software with interest in expanding CAD knowledge.
• Experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design.
• Produce deliverables such as plans, specifications, memorandums or reports.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

SGM is seeking a full‑time Civil Engineer I or II in Glenwood Springs, Colorado. Our ideal candidate will have a strong desire to live, work, and play in Western Colorado!

SALARY:

Depending on experience level, the anticipated salary range for this position may be as follows: Engineer I – $76,200 - $84,500 per year / Engineer II – $80,300 – $94,000 per year

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field
• EI Certification or ability to obtain in the first year of employment
• Organized, fast learner, and interested in the details
• Executes well‑defined technical and engineering tasks
• Strong familiarity and working knowledge in the use of AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar design software with interest in expanding CAD knowledge base
• Experience in surface water hydrology and hydraulic analysis and design
• Self‑review of work and understanding of review by fellow engineers
• Produce deliverables such as plans, specifications, memorandums or reports
• Enjoy working with a small, focused team
• Strong written and oral communication skills via emails, phone and in‑person
• Excellent client service skills for design meetings, coordination with other consultants and the client
• Ability to coordinate and schedule other subtasks
• Valid Driver License
• Able to conduct site visits on specific inspection tasks such as erosion control
• Strong desire to live, work and play in Western Colorado

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Surveying experience
• GPS/GIS experience
• Construction project administration and oversight experience
• Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field
• Municipal engineering experience
• An active member of relevant professional organizations
• Demonstrated initiative and participation in community involvement and outreach
• Software experience/proficiency
  • Hydrologic and Hydraulic modeling software (HEC‑RAS 2D, HEC‑HMS, InfoDrainage, FLO‑2D, or similar)
  • MS Office software such as Word and Excel

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to travel to various project sites including mountain locations.
