Job summary

Qualifications

  • Occasional flexibility in work hours to meet project deadlines.
  • Construction experience is a plus.
  • Ability to travel to meetings and client sites throughout the United States.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and MicroStation.

Responsibilities

  • Technical site engineering for substation projects, managing design-related aspects of multi-discipline projects.

  • Coordinates all technical aspects of site development projects and makes execution decisions.
  • Design/oversee site grading, pavement, landscaping, and utilities per standards.
  • Develop or lead team to create drawing packages using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation & OpenRoads.
  • Lead coordination with designers, engineers, and PMs to meet deliverables.
  • Attend and lead client meetings and site visits.
  • Review local zoning ordinances to meet special requirements.
  • Assist in obtaining permits for storm, sanitary, water, SESC, floodplain work.
  • Assist with RFI’s, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Assist with writing proposals and RFPs; prepare project estimates.
  • Support BD by providing technical information for sales proposals.

Job description

The PE Certified Engineer – Team Contributor 3 performs all aspects of conventional design engineering and analysis, and is familiar with a variety of engineering concepts, practices, and procedures. This role may act as a technical specialist or expand knowledge in other disciplines and/or functional areas. This role provides technical guidance on projects of low to medium complexity, and is also responsible for developing, validating, and presenting technical output.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Technical site engineering for substation projects. Manages engineering design-related aspects of a multi-discipline project or multiple small to medium projects, including engineering schedule and budget performance, quality of engineering solutions and deliverables, coordination or design, site plan approval through permitting, specifications, procurement, and construction.
  • Oversees and participates in the collection, assimilation, and management of data for site development engineering work. Including reviewing and incorporating client specific design standards to projects.
  • Coordinates all technical aspects of site development projects and makes project engineering execution decisions within the bounds set by applicable policies, standards, guides and contract commitments.
  • Design/oversee design of site grading, pavement, landscaping, and site utilities (storm, sanitary, water) in accordance with local, state, & federal standards.
  • Design/oversee detail of temporary and permanent BMPs for construction and stormwater management
  • Develop or lead team to develop drawing packages utilizing AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation & OpenRoads for geometric layout, grading, drainage, underground utilities, and details.
  • Leads and works closely with designers, engineers, and project managers to coordinate civil site design with other disciplines, both within the firm and partnering consultants, to meet project deliverables.
  • Attends and frequently leads internal and external client meetings, communications, conference calls and client site visits.
  • Review local zoning ordinances to develop site layouts and meet special requirements.
  • Assist in obtaining permits through federal, state, county, & local Authorities Having Jurisdiction for storm, sanitary, water main, SESC, and floodplain work.
  • Analyze and assist CAD support in formatting topographic survey data.
  • Assist in review of RFI’s, contractor submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Assist with writing proposals and RFP’s.
  • Assists in preparing project estimates for civil site design.
  • Support Business Development by providing technical information for sales proposals, or by pursuing other related activates as assigned by directors.
  • Ensures compliance with company quality program through individual and team related tasks or deliverables.
  • Occasional flexibility in work hours to meet project deadlines required.
