Qualifications

  • 3-6 years: Bachelor's in civil engineering; P.E. license preferred.
  • 6+ years: Bachelor's in civil engineering; P.E. license within 6 months.

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a full-time Civil/Railway Engineer

Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a candidate to fill a full-time Civil/Railway position in one of the following offices:

Position Profile

This position will primarily focus on the design of railroad track and yard projects and related construction observation efforts. The role requires the ability to work on various projects, follow directions from multiple supervisors, and coordinate with other staff. Whether you're an entry-level individual eager to learn or a more experienced candidate looking to expand your project portfolio and leadership skills, this role offers growth opportunities.

A Day in the Life of a Civil Railway Designer at Hanson
  • Work on project teams as a designer and construction observer
  • Construction Observation: Coordinate and communicate field construction activities, onsite materials testing
  • Design/Engineering: Lead or assist with field investigations, analysis, calculations, and preparation of civil plans, specifications, and estimates on rail-related projects
Qualifications

We believe the following qualifications will help you succeed in this role:

Technical Skills:
  • CAD experience and/or willingness to learn MicroStation
  • Experience designing with MicroStation Connect / Open Roads is a plus
Soft Skills:
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Effective relationship-building with internal and external clients
  • Strong communication and technical writing skills
  • Sense of urgency and initiative to meet deadlines
Education/Training:
  • 0-3 years: Bachelor's in civil engineering or related field; FE/EIT certification desirable
  • 3-6 years: Bachelor's in civil engineering with relevant coursework; P.E. license or ability to obtain within 1 year; experience in transportation design or rail construction observation preferred; Master's degree a plus
  • 6+ years: Bachelor's in civil engineering with relevant coursework; P.E. license or ability to be licensed within 6 months; minimum 2 years' experience in railroad design or construction observation; Master's degree a plus
Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $72,000 - $110,000 annually, based on experience.
