Job summary

Impact Recruitment is partnering with a Phoenix-based civil engineering firm to hire a seasoned Design Engineer. You will oversee design work on roadways, subdivisions, hospitals and golf courses, site development, grading, and stormwater systems, ensuring technical excellence and client satisfaction.

The ideal candidate holds a PE in Arizona, a Bachelors in Engineering, 8+ years in municipal or private infrastructure, and demonstrates strong communication and proposal skills to lead projects

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field is required.
• PE license in Arizona is required.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in private development or municipal infrastructure.
• Strong ability to read complex civil drawings, scope and reports.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Experience proposing work with collaborative scope and fee authorship.

Responsibilities

• Own all aspects of project management including scoping, budgeting, and scheduling.
• Communicate with project teams, clients and stakeholders both orally and in writing.
• Provide engineering design guidance and lead problem solving in a team environment.
• Manage multiple projects with minimal supervision and focus on client care.
• Negotiate change orders and respond to RFIs.
• Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration with project teams and design engineers.

Job description

Impact Recruitment is working with a full-service civil engineering firm, located in Phoenix, Arizona. Our client offers comprehensive, client-based, professional civil engineering, design, and consulting services. They have provided services for public works, utilities, industrial, commercial, retail and large housing projects. We have a full-time, manager-level position available for a seasoned civil engineer interested in public and/or private sector development. The position will entail oversight of design work on roadways, subdivisions, hospitals and golf courses, site development and grading, stormwater systems, utility infrastructure, and other similarly complex civil infrastructure.

Design Engineer Responsibilities

Independently handle all aspects of project management, including project scoping, project budgeting, and project scheduling. Effectively communicate and collaborate with project teams, clients, and stakeholders through both oral and written channels. Demonstrate leadership in providing engineering design guidance and problem solving in a collaborative environment. Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, with minimal supervision, and a focus on client care. Adapt and respond effectively to project issues and challenges, implementing solutions to keep projects on track. Negotiate change orders, review submittals and provide responses to Requests for Information. Effective at facilitating interdisciplinary team collaboration, including project team, Design Engineer.

Design Engineer Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited College or University in Engineering, or related field.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in Phoenix, Arizona.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in private development or municipal infrastructure projects.
• Strong proficiency in understanding complex civil engineering drawings, scope and fees, and technical reports.
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond to proposals by collaborative participation in proposal, scope and fee authorship for new work.
