Job summary

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager in Detroit, MI, to oversee civil construction from pre-construction through closeout.

You will manage safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction while coordinating with owners, subcontractors, engineers, and field teams. The ideal candidate has strong civil project management experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience leading civil construction projects from pre-construction to closeout.
• Strong project management experience in civil construction.
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to drive projects in fast-paced environments.
• Professional certifications such as PE or PMP are preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil projects including earthwork, utilities, concrete, site development, and roadway work.
• Interpret plans and geotechnical reports to develop quantity takeoffs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop bid proposals, schedules and value-engineering options.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Oversee safety plan and enforce a strong safety culture on sites.
• Lead project kickoff, planning, and scheduling activities.
• Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure work aligns with plans and quality standards.

Position Overview

Reliance One, Inc. is seeking an experienced Civil Project Manager to oversee the successful execution of civil construction projects from pre-construction through closeout. This role is responsible for managing project safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and client satisfaction while coordinating with owners, subcontractors, engineers, and field teams. The ideal candidate will have strong project management experience within civil construction, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to drive projects forward in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil construction projects, including earthwork, utilities, concrete, site development, and roadway work.
• Interpret plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports to develop accurate quantity takeoffs.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Develop bid proposals, schedules, and value-engineering options.
• Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits to assess project conditions.
• Maintain historical cost data and update estimating tools as needed.
• Accountable for overall safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and customer satisfaction on assigned projects.
• Establish and oversee the safety plan and enforce a strong safety culture at assigned sites.
• Write and manage contracts with contractors, testing companies, and design professionals.
• Lead project kickoff, planning, and scheduling activities.
• Coordinate with field supervisors to ensure work is completed according to plans, safety standards, and quality requirements.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, engineers, inspectors, and subcontractors.
• Prepare and manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Monitor project progress and proactively resolve scope, schedule, and resource challenges.
• Conduct regular site visits to support field operations and verify progress.
• Oversee project closeout, including punch lists, as-built documentation, and final billing.
• Manage monthly payment application processes.
• Track project budgets, costs, forecasts, and overall job profitability.
• Supervise and mentor project job site staff.
• Build and maintain relationships with owners, architects, and project stakeholders.
• Provide administrative direction to ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget while identifying cost-effective solutions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with DOT, municipal, or large-scale site development projects.
• Knowledge of scheduling software such as Primavera P6 or MS Project.
• Familiarity with GPS machine control and survey technologies.
• Professional certifications such as PE, PMP, or CM-Lean are preferred but not required.
• Ability to prioritize workload and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Teams.
• Ability to prepare financial reports and manage project documentation.
• Strong technical skills with the ability to navigate multiple software platforms.
