Job summary

Summit Design and Engineering Services in Colorado is seeking an experienced Senior Civil Project Manager to lead site civil projects, manage client relationships, and ensure successful delivery from scope through closeout.

You will coordinate with stakeholders, prepare proposals, oversee budgets and schedules, ensure QA/QC, mentor staff, and support business development while navigating permitting and entitlement processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering required.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive site civil engineering and project management experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Colorado.
  • Advanced proficiency in Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with site planning, layout, grading, drainage, utilities, and landscaping.
  • Understanding of entitlement processes and local permitting requirements.
  • Proven track record managing projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong engineering judgment, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; externally presentable.

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of site civil projects, including design, permitting, and client coordination.
  • Prepare proposals with scope, schedules, and fee estimates.
  • Oversee budgets, schedules, and profitability; monitor progress.

  • Mentor staff to promote efficiency, quality, and professional growth.
  • Assist Department Manager with process improvements and methodologies.
  • Advise Department Manager on project-related operational matters.
  • Support business development through client relationships and industry involvement.

  • Prepare project proposals, including scope, schedules, and fee estimates
  • Lead the execution of site civil projects, overseeing technical design, permitting, approvals, financial performance, and client coordination
  • Ensure compliance with local jurisdictional requirements, entitlement processes, and permitting regulations
  • Develop detailed project plans and monitor progress, schedules, and budgets to meet profitability goals
  • Assign and manage workloads, schedules, and priorities for project teams
  • Ensure department and individual QA/QC standards are followed consistently

  • Strong understanding of entitlement processes and local permitting requirements
  • Proven experience managing projects, budgets, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong engineering judgment, analytical skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent the organization externally
