Job summary

This role covers bid lifecycles from plan analysis and quantity take-offs through final cost breakdowns, subcontractor negotiations, and handoffs to field teams. Ideal candidates have 5+ years in civil construction estimating, strong knowledge of heavy earthwork, site utilities, and regulatory literacy, and proficiency with HCSS HeavyBid, B2W, Agtek, Bluebeam, and MS Office.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of dedicated civil construction estimating experience.
• Strong civil systems knowledge including earthwork and utilities.
• Proficiency with estimation software and MS Office.
• Familiarity with local Bay Area regulations and safety standards.
• Ability to manage multiple bid schedules and prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

• Analyze plans and specs to prepare precise cost estimates.
• Prepare quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns.
• Solicit and evaluate bids from subcontractors.
• Maintain cost databases and track pricing trends.
• Assist with schedule development and budget planning.
• Monitor bidding budgets and assess change orders.
• Conduct site visits to verify scope and conditions.
• Serve as primary contact for clients, engineers, and suppliers.
• Lead pre-bid meetings and mentor junior estimators.
