Position Overview

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for the administrative and technical aspects of constructing a project, managing a team of field and cost engineers. In this role, you will serve as the main conduit of information between the Project or Construction Manager and the team regarding cost, revenue, and cash flow information; therefore, strong interpersonal and time management skills are essential. Project Engineers may also act as the Project Manager on smaller projects and will be expected to develop the team below them.

District Overview

Kiewit's South Central District has played a major role in constructing infrastructure projects across the United States. We specialize in highway and heavy civil construction including grading, excavating, trenching, bridge construction, concrete, asphalt paving, and more. Our experience and commitment to safety, quality, and the environment make us industry leaders in highway and heavy civil construction.

Location

All roles are project-based and require mobility within the South-Central District, including Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Arkansas.

Responsibilities

  1. Perform scheduling of the project
  2. Manage revenue, costs, and cash flow
  3. Coordinate temporary engineering
  4. Manage permanent design and quality control
  5. Oversee project closeout
  6. Maintain client relations
  7. Assist in operations planning
  8. Administer contracts and subcontracts

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree in construction management, construction engineering, or related engineering disciplines
  • 5+ years of work experience in construction or engineering
  • 3+ years managing engineers with exposure to cost control and scheduling management
  • Ability to read and analyze engineering plans, specifications, and contract documents, and identify discrepancies
  • Highly motivated with a passion for excellence and initiative
  • Strong work ethic and commitment to doing the job right the first time
  • Demonstrated ethics and integrity
  • Passion for safety and ensuring a safe work environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work independently to meet deadlines and goals
  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail
