Job summary

Burkhardt Engineering seeks an experienced Project Engineer for our civil engineering and site development team. You will design site layouts, grading plans, storm water systems, and utilities, while coordinating with clients, authorities, and internal staff.

The role requires a PE license and 4+ years in civil engineering, with strong communication and attention to detail. Proficiency in Civil 3D and HydroCAD is essential; Burkhardt offers robust benefits and career growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
• Minimum four years civil engineering experience.
• Professional Licensure (P.E. required).
• Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D and Microsoft 365 products.
• Proficiency in HydroCAD or comparable storm water modeling programs.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Proactive and engaging with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Design site layouts based on client direction, code requirements, and sound engineering principles.
• Design grading plans and perform earthwork analysis and optimization.
• Perform storm water management calculations and design detention and water quality systems.
• Design site utilities including storm sewer, sanitary sewer, and water service systems.
• Perform storm sewer system calculations and hydraulic/hydrologic modeling.
• Prepare conceptual to construction drawings including profiles, sections, and details.
• Prepare storm water pollution prevention plans and operation/maintenance manuals.
• Coordinate with authorities and project teams; attend meetings.
• Review designs and seal documents; ensure Burkhardt standards and constructability.
• Research permits, track submittals, and manage permit processes.
• Proactively identify challenges and develop solutions; perform site visits.
