Job summary

Cochran, a growing civil engineering firm with multiple Missouri offices, seeks a motivated Civil Project Engineer at its Kansas City, MO location. The ideal candidate has an EIT and is pursuing or has earned a PE license, with 4+ years in design, permitting, and construction support.

You will coordinate projects, communicate with clients, and mentor junior staff. Join a team focused on municipal, commercial, and infrastructure projects, with opportunities for professional growth and involvement

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• EIT certification required
• PE license or on track to obtain within 12 months
• 4+ years of civil engineering experience
• Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and MS Office
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Self-motivated with ability to work independently and in a team

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, design, and delivery of civil engineering projects including site development and roadway improvements
• Prepare design plans, specs, and cost estimates
• Perform engineering calculations, site layout and stormwater modeling
• Support project managers with schedules, budgets, permitting, and agency coordination
• Conduct site visits and assist with construction observation and documentation
• Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders for successful outcomes
• Mentor junior engineers and support staff as needed
