Job summary

Timmons Group is seeking a Civil Project Engineer II/III to join our Land Development team in Roanoke, VA. You will contribute to residential, commercial, and public-space projects, applying Civil 3D and other CAD tools to design site layouts, grading, utilities, and stormwater systems.

The role requires 2+ years of land development experience, a Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering, and preferably an EIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of land development engineering experience (residential, commercial, or mixed-use).
• EIT certification preferred.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and/or other CAD software.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Responsibilities

• Design site layouts, grading, utilities, and stormwater systems using Civil 3D and modeling tools.
• Perform engineering calculations and solve design challenges.
• Prepare technical specifications and construction documents.
• Conduct research and write objective reports to support project completion.
• Assist with cost estimates and construction planning.
• Support field inspections and data collection.
• Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and senior engineers to deliver high-quality results.

The Project Engineer II/III will contribute to a wide range of land development projects—from residential neighborhoods to commercial developments and public spaces.
