Job summary

Haley Ward, Inc. in Portland, ME, is seeking a Civil Project Engineer to lead design and management of site development projects across residential, commercial, industrial and institutional sectors.

You will coordinate with the project team to meet budgets, schedules, and QA/QC standards while maintaining high client service. The position requires a BS in Civil Eng, PE or EIT on track, AutoCAD proficiency, strong math skills, and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license with minimum 4 years of related experience OR Engineer in Training (EIT) on track to attain PE license with minimum 5 years of related experience.
• Sound mathematical skills are required.
• A working knowledge of software such as AutoCAD is required.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Valid driver's license & reliable transportation required.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, design and control the activities of projects to best accomplish successful completion within schedules, budgets, and QA/QC policy constraints.
• Typical projects entail design of residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional site plans with site layout and grading and utility design.
• Support project team toward preparation of a professional, economical, and effective set of plans and specifications.
• Conduct engineering computations to design complex projects.
• Communicate with regulatory staff and represent clients at hearings or meetings.
• Monitor compliance to codes, QA/QC policies, and performance standards.
• Advise field engineers, contractors, and inspectors regarding construction phase.
• Assist in preparation of project proposals including scope of work and manpower estimates.
• Promote new business for the company and area of expertise.
