HLA, Inc. is seeking a Civil Engineer to lead diverse projects from planning to construction administration in Charleston, SC. You will design site development plans, perform drainage and utility calculations, and prepare detailed drawings using AutoCAD or Carlson.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited College/University
• 3+ years’ experience in Civil Engineering; experience with local regulations highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Prepare preliminary and final design work for site development projects.
• Perform storm drainage, water, and sewer calculations and prepare reports.
• Create complex construction drawings and details using AutoCAD or Carlson applications.
• Review Plats and As-Builts, and coordinate directly with surveyors, contractors, and agencies
• Assist in preparing due diligence and feasibility studies
• Coordinate project workloads with engineering team
• Manage all aspects of project development from programming through construction administration
• Create and track project budgets, proposals, and schedules
• Manage client relations and coordinate directly on project requirements and expectations.

Job Responsibilities:

This position requires the planning and execution of diverse civil engineering projects.It will serve as the project lead and work with the Senior Project Director and engineering team to provide state of the art engineering and construction solutions to clients by leading in the preparation and design of site development plans, reports, and specifications for residential, commercial, and industrial projects.It will also provide a varied work environment that allows you plenty of chances to get out of the office and into the field.

Duties:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field from an accredited College/University
• 3+ years’ experience in Civil Engineering; experience with local regulations highly desirable

Skills:

• PE licensure, pursuing licensure, or ability to obtain licensure in South Carolina preferred
• Ability to collaborate with in-house Engineers, Landscape Architects, and Surveyors as well as outside consultants
• Ability to operate various specialized software, including AutoCAD or Carlson, HydroCAD, ICPR, KY Pipe, Microsoft Office.
• Ability to perform QA/QC reviews of design work by team members.
• Permitting and closeout experience with local jurisdictions
• Excellent written and oral communication
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage and assign tasks effectively
• Must have a valid U.S. driver’s license
