Job summary

SCS Engineers offers a paid summer internship in our Tampa, FL office, designed to give you hands-on experience in civil/environmental engineering and business operations. You’ll work with seasoned professionals on projects across landfill design, permitting, remediation, data management, and stormwater, typically 40 hours per week.

You’ll gain exposure to field work, data collection, CAD drafting, and regulatory reporting while developing a career path in consulting.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil/environmental/geological engineering; graduating by June 2029.
• Willing to live in the Tampa area for Summer 2027; housing not provided.
• Solid technical and computer skills; AutoCAD experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.

Job description

What we are looking for

SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2027 intern for our Tampa, FL office. This opportunity offers valuable hands‑on experience in both technical engineering and business operations through a diverse range of client projects while giving you the chance to explore the beginnings of your own career path.

As an intern, you’ll work alongside experienced professionals on projects centered around landfill design, landfill permitting, environmental regulation compliance reporting, soil and groundwater remediation, data management, and stormwater projects. You will typically work 40 hours per week and be based in our Tampa office 5 days a week.

How you can make an impact

You will contribute to our projects by assisting SCS project teams with the following tasks:

• Supporting field staff with data collection and documentation
• Environmental and construction materials sample collection
• Laboratory data management and review
• Compliance reporting
• Preparation of reporting figures, graphs, tables, and maps
• Reporting and calculation preparation
• CAD drafting

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil, environmental, biological/biosystems or geological engineering and graduating by June 2029 required. (Preference for those candidates graduating by June 2028).
• Must be willing to live in the Tampa area for Summer 2027 (housing allowance will not be provided)
• Solid technical and computer skills (AutoCAD experience preferred)
• Previous teamwork experience required.
• Ability to travel overnight for work outside of the SCS office required.
• Preference for candidates who demonstrate a desire to pursue a career in consulting and professional licensure upon graduation.
• A valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.

Pay Range

USD $22.00 - USD $25.00 /Hr.

At this time, we only consider candidates who are authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis without the need for current or future employer sponsorship for our internship program.
