Primary Purpose Of Position

Responsible for planning, organizing, and directing operator craft team members based on the project schedule and state and federal requirements.

Responsible for operating equipment as directed and specified while adhering to all rules and regulations as mandated by Mortenson safety policies and procedures.

Key Result Areas (Essential Functions)
  • Operate and supervise the operation of equipment such as Blade, Dozer, Loader, Scraper, Forklift/Telehandler, Crane, Bobcat/Skid-steer, Boom Lifts/Aerial Lifts, Roller, Backhoe, Track Crane based on project requirements.
  • Follow prescribed safety regulations.
  • Ensure all housekeeping is maintained in a clear and orderly fashion in the assigned area.
  • Perform routine maintenance including lubricating, fueling, and cleaning.
  • Observe equipment operation to detect machine malfunction.
  • Follow work plans and pre-task cards.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and organizational levels.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to operate equipment by moving levers, shifting gears, and maneuvering steering wheels.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and load charts.

  • Basic mathematical skills (adding, subtracting, division, multiplication).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and active listening skills, with openness to diverse input and feedback.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Equipment certifications as required.
  • Minimum one year of related experience.
  • Current driver’s license of proper class and necessary endorsements as required by law.
