Job summary

Messerli Kramer seeks an Associate Civil Litigation Attorney for our St. Michael, MN location. The successful candidate will handle general civil litigation matters and assist workers’ compensation defense claims, demonstrating strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills.

Minimum Minnesota bar licensure with at least two years of experience required. We offer a comprehensive compensation package incl. bonuses and benefits.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of practicing law in Minnesota.
• Experience with motion practice, discovery disputes and trial preparation.
• Experience settling disputes with contract negotiations or interpretations.
• Strong negotiation and persuasive skills with confidence in the courtroom.

Responsibilities

• Represent businesses and individuals in defense of general civil litigation, including personal injury, subrogation, and employment claims.
• Represent employers in defense of employment-related claims in state and federal court.
• Research, investigate, and analyze workers’ compensation and civil litigation cases.
• Prepare pleadings in workers’ compensation and civil litigation cases.
• Complete discovery, including written discovery, witness interviews, and depositions; provide timely updates to clients.
