Job summary

Baxter and Woodman Inc is actively seeking a Land Development Engineer to support Florida operations. You will drive site development design, permitting, and project delivery for residential, commercial, institutional, and municipal projects.

You will coordinate with clients and regulatory agencies, manage design efforts, and ensure high-quality engineering solutions while overseeing multiple projects and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field is required.
• Professional Engineer license in Florida is required.
• 5+ years of land development engineering experience is required.
• Experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utilities is required.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation is required.
• Ability to multi-task across projects and meet deadlines is required.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering plans and surveys is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed land development design, including site grading and drainage plans.
• Design stormwater management and water quality systems; plan water, wastewater, and utilities infrastructure.
• Lead roadway and access design; prepare construction drawings and calculations.
• Coordinate permit applications and respond to RFIs/RAIs with regulatory agencies.
• Lead or coordinate design tasks, budgets, schedules, and quality control for multiple projects.
• Meet with clients to establish project vision, scope, and design intent.

About the role, Your Impact

Baxter & Woodman has a rewarding opportunity for a Land Development Engineer to support our growing Florida operations. This position will focus on site development design, permitting, and project delivery for a variety of residential, commercial, institutional, and municipal projects.

You will play a critical role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions, managing design efforts, and coordinating directly with clients and regulatory agencies across Florida.

What your day-to-day will look like

• Perform detailed land development design, including:
• Site grading and drainage plans
• Stormwater management and water quality systems
• Water, wastewater, and utility infrastructure
• Roadway and access design
• Prepare and oversee construction drawings, calculations, and specifications
• Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling for stormwater systems and drainage basins
• Utilize AutoCAD Civil 3D and or MicroStation and related design software for production and design leadership
• Lead permitting efforts for land development projects
• Prepare and submit permit applications and respond to RFIs/RAIs through approval
• Ensure compliance with Florida agencies (FDEP, Water Management Districts, local municipalities)
• Meet with clients to establish project vision, scope, and design intent
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams and regulatory agencies
• Manage multiple projects while maintaining budgets, schedules, and quality standards
• Provide quality control review of plans and calculations

Education/Certification/Licenses Requirement

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
• Professional Engineer license in Florida

Must-haves, what you will bring

• 5+ years of land development engineering experience
• Experience in site design, grading, drainage, and utilities
• Strong knowledge in stormwater design and permitting in Florida
• Proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation
• Experience managing or independently executing design tasks and projects
• Ability to multi-task across projects and meet deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and ability to interpret engineering plans and surveys

Compensation

The pay range for this role is $100,000 to $130,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, and certifications.
