Job summary

International Towers, Inc (ITL) is hiring Civil Laborer I, II, and III to support skilled civil craft labor on commercial or engineering construction projects, including tower assembly and maintenance. Duties encompass digging, trenching, installing conduit, assembling components and handling tools, all while complying with safety standards.

Open availability is required, including weekends and overnights; travel for extended periods may be necessary with occasional per diem.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate hand tools and basic power tools; follow safety policies and wear PPE.
  • Maintain organized worksite, complete daily reports, and assist construction manager as needed.
  • Work outdoors in various weather, travel as required, and adhere to safety standards.

Job description

International Towers, Inc (ITL) is a part of the S&K Technologies, Inc. Family of Companies.

We are hiring for Civil Laborer positions - we will consider candidates that meet the level I, II, or III. The positions will support primarily, but not limited to, skilled civil craft labor for commercial or engineering construction installing, altering, and repairing fixed works, roadway, wet and dry underground utilities, drilling, earthwork, metal erection, mechanical systems, structures, fencing, and cement or masonry systems. The Civil Laborer I, II, and III provides a broad range of support in areas including hand work, moving materials, trenching, installing conduit, assembling components, installing devices, and basic equipment operation. This position will also support the assembly, erection, and maintenance of towers and their associated systems. Work may include assisting with the installation, modification, and maintenance of communications equipment including Land Mobile Radio (LMR), network infrastructure, microwave systems, and point-to-point (PTP) systems installed on towers and other elevated structures. Includes building improvements within structures. This position must be capable of working with minimal oversight yet willing to follow directions and closely adhere to construction industry safety standards. The position is located indoors and outdoors, and the Civil Laborer I, II, and III will be expected to work under all types of weather conditions.

  • The work schedule will require open availability including weekends, holidays, and overnights determined by the needs of the business; must be flexible.
  • Must be available to travel and work outside of the home market for extended periods of time, based on business needs. Per Diem allotments shall be paid on certain projects.
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a pre-employment, post-offer background check and drug test
Essential Function Work of the Civil Laborer I, II, or III
  • Support the project by providing skilled labor;
  • Typical duties may include but not limited to: carpentry, forming, dig, trench, reinforcing, place materials, assemble components, install fencing; construct improvements, support operations, using hand tools or physical force;
  • Load, unload and move materials around the worksite;
  • Perform setup tasks at job site;
  • Perform work on tower top, including rigging, hoisting, landing, fastening, load hopping, etc.
  • Support specialty tasks under the supervision of qualified personnel;
  • Operate equipment including but not limited to; laser levels, pavement breakers, jackhammers, earth tampers, cement mixers, as directed;
  • Utilize both power and hand tools as needed for carpentry, digging, trenching, backfilling and compacting materials;
  • When trained and authorized by the Construction Manager; operate machinery;
  • Ensure worksite is organized and free of clutter, debris and garbage;
  • Produce high quality work, safely and productively at all times;
  • If unsure about any aspect of the work or issues regarding safe practices ask a supervisor before continuing;
  • Any other task to support the execution of a project, as directed by the Construction Manager.
Reporting
  • Perform electronic timecard reporting daily and sign timecards weekly to support reporting and payroll activities. Use of personal electronic device using network data may be required
  • Produce high quality work, safely and productively at all times.
Safety
  • Promote, execute and adhere to the company's safety program
  • Attend daily and weekly safety meetings and inspections
  • Work in a safe, responsible manner to not intentionally or unintentionally injure oneself or endanger the wellbeing of others
  • Cooperate with peers, EHS personnel, supervisors, managers, and clients to ensure proper procedures are carried out according to the Company's Safety policies
Teamwork
  • Participate as a vital crew member, contributing towards the success of the project and the organization
  • Promote a team approach and maintain dialogue with all employees to exchange information and gather ideas
  • Collaborate with other company personnel to meet organizational deadlines and objectives
  • Complete daily reports and timecards and support the construction manager
Driving
  • Operate a company vehicle in accordance with local laws/regulations.
  • Operate the vehicle in a safe and courteous manner.
  • Ability to tow a trailer in a competent and safe manner.
  • Keep company vehicles clean and orderly.
  • Report maintenance requirements and/or damage in a timely manner.
  • Maintain a valid Driver’s License (DL).
  • Maintain additional required operator licenses as directed (Forklift, Aerial Lift, CDL).
  • Ability to obtain a DOT card.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred
Experience
  • One (1) yearGeneral Laborer or other construction experience
  • Knowledge of hand commands
  • Minimum two (2) years related construction experience & capability
  • Knowledge of hand commands

Licenses/ Certification/ Registration
  • Current government issued driver’s license - clean and unencumbered
  • Certification for CPR/First Aid
  • If required, complete a DOT medical physical prior to operating company vehicles on public Right-of-Ways
  • OSHA 10 and OSHA 30 or EM 385-1-1
Special knowledge, skills, & abilities
  • Capability to learn new skills

  • Ability to perform maintenance and repairs as required

  • Ability to climb up or down ladders, stairs and scaffolding
  • Ability to apply a pushing or pulling force in excess of 50 pounds
  • Ability to work in high, precarious places
  • Ability to work in confined spaces
  • Work schedule will require open availability including weekends, holidays and overnights determined by the needs of the business; must be flexible
  • Must be able to successfully complete and pass a preemployment, post-offer background check and drug screening and maintain this status while employed
  • In addition to all capabilities listed under Level I, also must:
    • Demonstrate knowledge of proper use of equipment, materials and supplies
    • Demonstrate knowledge of effective soil moisture content and compaction means and methods to reach 90% and 95% compaction
    • Ability to perform maintenance and repairs as required
