Job summary

Aurora Technical Services is seeking a Graduate Engineer for our Houston location. You will work closely with a Project Manager and contribute to all phases of project development, from initial design through construction close-out.

You will assist with design tasks, technical calculations, drafting, and project coordination while gaining hands-on experience with engineering standards and best practices in the civil engineering industry.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 1-3 years of relevant engineering experience (internship or co-op).
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% as required for project needs.
  • Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with project teams under the direction of a Team Lead or Project Manager.
  • Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and evaluations to support design decisions and recommend improvements.
  • Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and design details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Assist in developing project specifications, technical memoranda, and engineering reports.
  • Gather and organize project-related data, including researching utility records and supporting information.
  • Review and analyze maps, drawings, survey data, and other technical documents.
  • Assist with reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs, design documents, and project schedules.
  • Perform field engineering duties, including site observations, verifying contractor compliance with design documents, and assisting with field modifications as needed.]

Qualifications
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and technical skills with the ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret design data.
  • Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently.
  • Self‑motivated with strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
