Job summary

Aurora Technical Services is seeking a Graduate Engineer for our Arlington location. You will work closely with a Project Manager, contributing to all phases from design to construction close-out.

The role offers hands-on experience with engineering standards and best practices in civil engineering. You will assist with design tasks, technical calculations, drafting, and project coordination while growing your technical skillset and playing an integral role in delivering high-quality projects.

Qualifications

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or ability to obtain within 12 months of hire.
• Experience with field observations and site visits is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with project teams under the direction of a Team Lead or Project Manager.
• Perform engineering calculations, analyses, and evaluations to support design decisions.
• Prepare engineering drawings, layouts, and design details using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Assist in developing project specifications, technical memoranda, and engineering reports.
• Gather and organize project-related data, including researching utility records and supporting information.
• Review maps, drawings, survey data, and other technical documents.
• Assist with reviewing contractor submittals, RFIs, design documents, and project schedules.
• Perform field engineering duties, including site observations and verifying contractor compliance.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited University.
• 1-3 years of relevant engineering experience (internship or co-op)
• Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or the ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
• Ability to conduct occasional field work, including site visits and construction observations.
• Ability to travel up to 10% as required for project needs.
• Valid Driver's license.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD; experience with Civil 3D is strongly preferred.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical skills with the ability to perform engineering calculations and interpret design data.
• Team-oriented with strong capability to work independently.
• Self-motivated with strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
