Job summary

RS&H is offering a Civil Field Engineering Inspection Intern position for Summer 2027 in the Denver and Fort Collins, CO area. The role provides mentorship from senior engineers and hands-on field experience in transportation construction management.

The ideal candidate is pursuing a Civil Engineering or related ABET-accredited program, can work independently and in a team, and has strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or related ABET-accredited program.
• Ability to work independently with supervision and in a team environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must have a valid driver's license and good driving record.
• Physical ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop for extended periods.

Responsibilities

• Support inspection teams with field inspections.
• Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work.
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation.
• Perform engineering tasks using CADD/engineering software and equipment.
• Prepare reports for site operations activities including materials used and completed work.
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates.

Launch your career with RS&H as a Civil Field Engineering Inspection Intern. Join our Transportation Construction Management team in the Denver and Fort Collins, CO areas for Summer of 2027. As a Civil Field Engineering Inspection intern, you will collaborate with and be mentored by top engineering associates on our team while gaining hands‑on experience and a better understanding of the Transportation Construction Management profession. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, be a team player, and be enthusiastic, motivated, honest, and dependable.

Responsibilities May Include, But Are Not Limited To

• Support inspection teams with field inspections
• Verify the dimensions of prepared and completed work
• Collect and prepare data for evaluation
• Perform engineering with the use of computer-assisted engineering software and equipment
• Prepare reports for site operations activities, including materials used and completed work
• Provide support to engineering and project management associates

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering Management, or a related program at an ABET-accredited university
• Ability to work independently with general supervision as well as within a collaborative team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Good driving record with a valid driver’s license
• Ability to sit, stand, climb, bend, twist, or stoop frequently and for prolonged periods, under various outside conditions
• Ability to reach horizontally as well as vertically for required tasks
• Ability to use construction or inspection safety equipment, including fall protection
• Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and shake up to 20 pounds
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or visa transfer.

• Prior internship or related experience

The salary range for this position in Colorado is $20 to $28 per hour, plus overtime pay at 1.5 times the regular rate for eligible hours worked. This range reflects the employer’s good-faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be based on factors such as relevant experience, skills, qualifications, internal equity, and geographic location, where applicable.
