Job summary

McAninch Corporation in Iowa is seeking an Estimator/Project Manager with experience in civil, underground utilities, and/or earthwork. You will oversee planning, estimating, procurement, scheduling, cost management, and contract administration for heavy highway, commercial, and residential projects.

You will collaborate with field teams, customers, and vendors to ensure safety, quality, and profitability, while managing change orders and project closeout.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in construction estimating or project management for heavy civil/site infrastructure.
• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field preferred.
• Experience with Viewpoint, MS Project, Agtek, AutoCAD, or BlueBeam REVU preferred.
• Attention to detail with strong customer service and independent work ability.

Responsibilities

• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture; ensure crews follow company safety policies.
• Prepare accurate quantity takeoffs, budgets, and cost estimates for negotiated and bid projects.
• Develop bid packages; review subcontractor and supplier pricing; make award recommendations.
• Maintain professional communication with customers, subcontractors, owners, and general contractors.
• Coordinate with Director of Field Operations on scheduling, scope changes, and completion dates to meet profitability goals.
• Support project startup activities including pre-planning, scheduling, procurement, and coordination of crews.
• Maintain accountability for project safety, quality control, schedules, change orders, and cost.
• Review and approve subcontractor and material invoices; ensure timely payment.
• Order bonds when required and ensure closeout requirements are met.
