Fay, S&B USA Construction in the Mid-Atlantic is seeking Summer 2027 Estimating Interns to learn and contribute on civil construction projects. Interns perform takeoffs, assist in bid packages, and support senior estimators on bid strategy and site visits.

Qualifications

• Completion of one year in a Civil Engineering, General Engineering or Construction Management degree program.
• Excellent Computer and Communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Quantity Takeoffs & Bid Preparation: perform takeoffs from plan sets for earthwork, concrete, drainage and other civil items.
• Organize and assemble bid packages for heavy civil construction projects.
• Review project specifications and drawings to identify scope of work; assist in assembling bid documents.
• Build familiarity with DOT standard specifications and pay item structures.
• Subcontractor & Vendor Coordination: solicit and log subcontractor and supplier quotes.
• Maintain bid solicitation lists and track quote deadlines; compare vendor pricing.
• Cost Estimating Support: shadow senior estimators during bid reviews and strategy meetings.
• Research historical data and production rates to support estimate development.
• Assist in analyzing production rates for equipment and labor crews.
• Participate in pre-bid site visits and job walks.
