Job summary

Primoris Renewable Energy, part of Primoris Services Corporation, seeks an experienced heavy equipment operator for civil infrastructure projects on site in Texas. You will operate excavators, dozers, loaders, graders and compactors, perform inspections and routine maintenance, and ensure safety and efficient execution.

Reading construction plans, coordinating with ground crews, and adhering to environmental and safety standards are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years of verifiable experience operating heavy civil construction equipment.
• CDL preferred but not required.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans and grade stakes.

• Physically able to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy civil construction equipment (excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, compactors) per project specs and safety rules.
• Conduct pre-operation inspections and report maintenance issues.
• Perform routine maintenance (greasing, cleaning, minor adjustments) as directed.
• Follow PPE requirements and safety policies at all times.
• Read blueprints and grade stakes to ensure accurate operation.
• Grade and compact earth and rock per plans and specs.
• Load/unload materials and equipment as required.
• Coordinate with ground crews and supervisors for project progress.
• Maintain clean, organized work areas and equipment.
• Operate with environmental considerations in mind and comply with regulations.

Job Overview:

Operate heavy equipment safely and efficiently on construction sites, primarily focusing on civil infrastructure projects, to support Primoris Services Corporation’s operational needs.

Job Responsibilities:

• Operate various types of heavy civil construction equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, motor graders, compactors, and other related machinery, according to project specifications and safety protocols.
• Perform pre-operation inspections of equipment, including checking fluid levels, tires, and controls, and report any maintenance issues or defects to supervisors.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks on equipment, such as greasing, cleaning, and minor adjustments, as directed.
• Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Read and interpret blueprints, grade stakes, and other construction documents to ensure accurate equipment operation and project execution.
• Grade, level, and compact earth, rock, and other materials according to project plans and specifications.
• Load and unload materials and equipment as required.
• Collaborate effectively with ground crews, supervisors, and other team members to ensure smooth project progression.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and equipment.
• Operate equipment in a manner that minimizes environmental impact and adheres to all regulations.

Job Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2-5 years of verifiable experience operating heavy civil construction equipment.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred but not always required.
• Proven ability to operate a variety of equipment safely and efficiently, including excavators, dozers, and loaders.
• Strong understanding of civil construction practices, grading, and earthwork.
• Ability to read and interpret construction plans, surveys, and grade stakes.
• Knowledge of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety regulations.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate clearly.
• Physical ability to perform demanding tasks in various weather conditions, including standing, bending, lifting, and operating heavy machinery for extended periods.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as project demands require.
