Job summary

HDR is seeking an Environmental/Civil Engineer to design and plan civil work for environmental and solid waste projects, including planning, layouts, grading, and utilities. You will work with clients and communities to deliver sustainable solutions and may lead mid-size projects as needed.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Environmental Engineering, a PE/P.Eng license, and at least 4 years of relevant design experience. Strong software skills with AutoCAD, GIS, and MS Office are preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related field.
  • Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects (remediation design and implementation).
  • Requires PE/P.Eng license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and with a project team to completion of tasks.
  • Active participation in employee-owned culture is a must.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan production of general civil work for environmental and solid waste infrastructure projects (planning, site layouts, grading, drainage, and utilities).
  • Prepare technical reports, memorandums, and project documents; prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, specs, and contracts for public entities.
  • Perform complex assignments using engineering techniques and procedures; make design decisions as needed.
  • Lead design engineer or project manager on mid-size projects as needed.
  • Mentor a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

In the role of Environmental/Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Design and plan production of general civil work related to environmental and solid waste industry infrastructure projects within our resources business group, including planning, site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities
  • Prepare technical reports, memorandums and other project documents Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents for public entity projects
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as a Lead Design Engineer or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed
  • Mentor a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 4 years' experience designing and creating plans and specifications for solid waste engineering projects, such as landfill or facility design and implementation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and GIS experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
  • Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation
  • Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
