Job summary

HDR is seeking an Environmental/Civil Engineer to design and plan civil work for environmental and solid waste infrastructure within our resources group. You will prepare reports, cost estimates, and contract documents for public entities while leading mid-size projects and supervising staff.

The role requires a BS in Environmental Engineering (or related field) and a PE license, with hands-on experience in remediation design, AutoCAD, and GIS.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or eligible for licensure.

Responsibilities

  • Design and plan civil work for environmental and solid waste projects, including site layouts, grading, drainage, and utilities.
  • Prepare technical reports, memos, and project documents.
  • Prepare quantities, cost estimates, specifications, and contract documents for public projects.
  • Lead engineering tasks, exercise judgment on design methods, and oversee mid-size projects.
  • Supervise staff and collaborate with project teams to complete tasks on schedule.

In the role of Environmental/Civil Engineer, we'll count on you to:

  • Design and plan production of general civil work related to environmental and solid waste industry infrastructure projects within our resources business group, including planning, site layouts, horizontal and vertical control, grading and drainage, paving, site utilities, and associated civil engineering activities
  • Prepare technical reports, memorandums and other project documents
  • Prepare quantity calculations, cost estimates, specifications and contract documents for public entity projects
  • Perform complex assignments exercising judgment in evaluation, selection and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures
  • Make decisions on significant design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as a Lead Engineer or Project Manager on mid-size projects as needed
  • Supervise a small staff of professionals and technicians as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed
Preferred Qualifications
  • A minimum of 6 years experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD and GIS experience
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or closely related Engineering field
  • Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for environmental engineering projects, such as remediation design and implementation
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task

The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.): $77,102-$143,189
