Job summary

JT Engineering in Wisconsin is seeking a Civil Engineering Utility Coordinator to lead utility coordination on highway projects across Green Bay, Madison, Milwaukee, and Eau Claire. You will identify conflicts, coordinate relocations, and collaborate with utilities, contractors, engineers, municipalities, and agencies to ensure project success while meeting schedules and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in civil engineering or related field
• 4+ years of experience in utility coordination or related domain
• Knowledge of utility systems (electric, gas, water, sewer, stormwater, telecom)
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specs, and construction documents
• Understanding of utility relocation, permitting, and project delivery methods
• Strong coordination and communication skills
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Utility Coordinator for highway projects, planning and executing utility activities throughout all phases
• Identify, track, and resolve utility conflicts across water, sewer, stormwater, electric, gas, and telecommunications
• Collaborate with utilities, contractors, engineers, municipalities, agencies, and stakeholders for compliance
• Review plans, maps, and documents to identify conflicts and develop solutions
• Coordinate utility relocations, installations, and adjustments to support schedules
• Provide guidance on utility coordination issues, permitting, risks, and stakeholder communications
• Maintain records, permits, agreements, and correspondence
• Assist in resolving field issues with contractors, utility owners, and project managers
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards and regulations

Job Responsibilities

• Serve as the Utility Coordinator for highway construction projects, ensuring utility-related activities are effectively planned, coordinated, and executed throughout all project phases
• Identify, track, and resolve utility conflicts involving water, sewer, stormwater, electric, gas, and telecommunications facilities
• Collaborate with utility companies, contractors, engineers, municipalities, government agencies, and project stakeholders to ensure compliance with engineering standards, regulations, and project requirements
• Review and analyze engineering plans, specifications, utility maps, and construction documents to identify potential conflicts and develop effective solutions
• Coordinate utility relocations, installations, and adjustments to support project schedules and minimize impacts to construction activities
• Provide guidance and support to project teams regarding utility coordination issues, permitting requirements, project risks, and stakeholder communications
• Maintain accurate project records, utility agreements, permits, correspondence, and coordination documentation
• Assist in resolving field issues and utility conflicts by working collaboratively with contractors, utility owners, and project managers
• Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable local, state, and federal regulations

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 4+ years of relevant experience utility coordination, civil engineering, infrastructure, transportation, construction, or a related industry
• Knowledge of utility systems, including electric, gas, water, sewer, stormwater, and telecommunications infrastructure
• Ability to read and interpret engineering plans, specifications, and construction documents
• Understanding of utility relocation processes, permitting requirements, and project delivery methods
• Strong project coordination, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively engage internal and external stakeholders
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management tools; experience with GIS, AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, or similar software preferred
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites and stakeholder meetings as required
