The City of Ankeny is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Civil Engineering Technician I or II - Stormwater within the Public Works Department. Starting salary: $35.15 - 43.13 per hour, depending on qualifications, plus excellent benefits including vacation, sick leave, personal leave, holidays, insurance options, wellness programs, tuition reimbursement, and more. Associates/Technical degree in Civil Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent work experience (2 years experience = 1 year education). Valid Iowa driver’s license required.
Knowledge of civil engineering principles, surveying, construction practices, and basic computer-aided drafting (CAD), GIS, and surveying skills. Ability to communicate effectively and establish good working relationships.
Technician I: Certifications in Iowa DOT – Level I PCC and Aggregate Technician (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Technician II: Minimum five years of experience as a Technician I, certifications in Iowa DOT – Level II PCC, Level I HMA, ICCSPPI (or ability to obtain within 6 months).
Work in office and field environments, often in adverse weather, requiring physical exertion, mobility, and regular attendance.
