Job summary

TKDA, an employee-owned multi-disciplinary engineering firm, seeks a CAD Designer / Technician to support roadway design across highways, interchanges, roundabouts, and other features.

You will collaborate with Traffic, Utility and Water Resource teams to develop designs and deliverables, participating in project team meetings and client interactions. The role offers a hybrid schedule (3 in-office / 2 remote) with a salary of $59,000–$70,000 and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or certification in civil engineering technology or related field.
  • Experience or formal training in CADD design/drafting with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation or ORD.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to interact with project teams and clients.
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Support design of transportation projects including highways, interchanges and roundabouts.
  • Develop designs for roadway features in coordination with a multi-discipline team.
  • Prepare design deliverables and participate in project team meetings.
  • Interact with technical professionals and clients on a regular basis.

Job description

Our employee-owned team of multi-disciplined engineering and design professionals is looking for a CAD Designer / Technician who is excited to support the design of various transportation projects.

As a member of our team, you will work alongside other professionals to develop designs for highways, interchanges, roundabouts, and other roadway features in coordination with a multi-discipline team that also includes Traffic, Utility, and Water Resource Engineering.

Flexible work arrangements will be provided (3 days in office / 2 days WFH).

This is an evergreen posting designed to identify and engage with talent for potential future opportunities. While we may not have an immediate opening for this position, we encourage qualified individuals to apply for consideration as needs arise.

$59,000 - $70,000 a year

The listed salary range reflects base pay for candidates with 0-4 years of related experience. Compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications
  • Associate’s Degree or Certification in Civil Engineering Technology, Engineering, or related field.
  • Previous experience or formal training CADD design/drafting (using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation, ORD).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; Ability to participate in project team meetings and interact directly with technical professionals and clients on a frequent basis.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
Advantageous Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of drafting techniques, plan development, quantity takeoffs, and related engineering practices.
  • Previous coursework or project assignments with an emphasis on roadway / highway design.
  • Experience in the development of project deliverables including geometric layouts, design plans, and/or the generation and use of 3-dimensional design models.
  • Knowledge of MnDOT standards and specifications.
