Job summary

The Planet Group is seeking a civil engineering professional located within 50 miles of the Ann Arbor, MI office to support design and project deliverables. This role requires Civil 3D and MicroStation experience and involves standard compliance, document control, and coordination across teams.

The position is a 6-month temp-to-FTE engagement, focusing on quality, accuracy, and adherence to BV policies while collaborating with internal clients and field activities.

• Experience in civil engineering design and document control.
• Knowledge of applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.
• Reviews project requirements and determines the correct format and contents of deliverables.
• Proactively applies BV Quality Program to deliverables and supports continuous improvement and change management.
• Reviews design inputs to ensure consistency and compliance with codes and standards.
• Applies basic engineering principles to develop moderately complex design concepts and deliverables.
• Capable of handling difficult technical assignments and providing technical guidance to other professionals.
• Performs design calculations, material quantities and estimates, and records.
• Reviews the deliverables of others.
• Defines work assignments and maintains schedules.
• Programs control systems or participates in plant start-up activities in a specialized area.
• Coordinates with design group personnel to exchange project information for design development.
• Supports field activities and focuses on internal client needs with awareness of external client interests.
• Seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes.
• Applies judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.

Key Responsibilities

• Applies knowledge of standards, systems, document control, departmental guides, applicable codes and BV policies and procedures.
• May review project requirements and accurately determine the correct format and contents of the required deliverables.
• Proactively applies BV Quality Program to deliverables. Demonstrates personal accuracy and supports continuous improvement and change management efforts.
• Reviews design inputs in order to ensure consistency. Assists to ensure deliverables are in compliance with the specific codes and standards suitable for the project.
• May apply basic engineering principles and established design practices in developing moderately complex design concepts and deliverables. Begins to apply judgment and make decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.
• Capable of handling difficult technical assignments within an area of expertise and can provide technical guidance to other professionals.
• Performs design calculations, detailed material quantities and estimates, and records.
• May review the deliverables of others.
• May define work assignments and maintain schedules.
• May program control systems or participate in other plant start-up activities associated with a specialized area of expertise.
• Coordinates with other design group personnel to review and exchange project information necessary for design development.
• May support field activities. Focuses on the needs of internal clients while utilizing an understanding of external client's main interests and drivers.
• Proactively seeks and shares knowledge of latest technologies and processes .
• May apply judgment and makes decisions with respect to deliverables and input interpretation.

Minimum Qualifications

• Typically a minimum of 5 years related work experience.
