You will design, review specifications, mentor staff, ensure quality and budget adherence, and collaborate with clients. A Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, a TN PE license, and 6+ years of experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 6+ years of engineering experience.
  • Registered TN Professional Engineer (PE).

Responsibilities

  • Assists in project scope and budget development, and in project design.
  • Provides technical leadership on conventional projects.
  • Designs and reviews documents, drawings, and specifications.
  • Develops components or complete projects, systems or facilities.
  • Directs a subset of project documents and deliverables.
  • Participates in client meetings and on-site project monitoring.
  • Supervises Engineering Associates and Designers.
  • Mentors staff and supports talent development.

What We're Looking For:

Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is seeking a driven Civil Engineering Team Lead to join our team in Knoxville, TN. In this role, you will support engineering projects, document development and design, and perform other related tasks. You will work on multiple projects with complex features as a technical lead or portions of larger conventional projects and supervise a small team of Engineering Associates and recent Professional Engineers.

Responsibilities:
  • Assists in project scope and budget development, as well as assisting in project design.
  • Supports PM providing technical leadership on conventional projects.
  • Designs experiments, interprets, and develops conclusions on complex data.
  • Writes and reviews engineer specifications, documents, drawings, etc. to produce various deliverables.
  • Designs a component, or process on complex projects or designs a complete project, systems, or components on conventional projects.
  • Responsible for completing a subset of project documents.
  • Participates in client meetings, as appropriate.
  • Conducts on-site visits to monitor progress of project.
  • Supervises one or more staff.
  • Performs other duties as requested.
Education & Experience Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from accredited program.
  • Minimum of 6 or more years of engineering experience.
  • Registered TN PE.
Skills:
  • Applies practical knowledge acquired through progressive experience to resolve issues.
  • Strong working knowledge of Auto Cad, and other essential equipment for field and office work.
  • Proficient in stormwater management design, utility design, grading, and erosion and sediment control design.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to prepare technical reports for submission to agencies.
  • Keeps informed of new methods and developments affecting the organization.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivation employees.
People Skills:
  • Manages a smaller group of employees.
  • This role will have talent management responsibilities for a group of individuals including, but not limited to selection, development, and coaching for improvement.
  • May recommend separations.
  • This role mentors other professionals.
Supervision:
  • Directs Engineering Associates and Designers in preparation of project plans.
  • Technical lead on conventional projects.
