Job description

Timmons Group is currently seeking a Civil Engineering Project Manager with a “seller/doer” mindset for our Commercial Land Development Group in our Plano, TX office. This individual will be instrumental in developing new business, managing client relationships, and successfully delivering projects. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at proposal writing, and possesses strong leadership skills to build and grow a team.

Applicants should possess a diverse range of design skill sets and be well-versed with state and local requirements in the project locations. Excellent communicators with the ability to work in either a team or an individual setting will be strong candidates for this position. This role involves working with your team on sites ranging from 1AC – 300 AC.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Design portions of a project using relevant office software, modeling, and Civil 3D technology.
  2. Complete calculations using engineering formulas and skills, and/or utilize computers to solve problems.
  3. Prepare specifications and materials through research and manufacturing catalogs to specify materials, installation, inspection, and payment items specific to a project.
  4. Work to complete design details and plan sets.
  5. Perform research and write objective summary reports used in project work or inspection.
  6. Assist in the preparation of engineering and construction cost estimates.
  7. Complete field observation, inspection, and data collection duties as directed by senior engineering staff.
  8. Communicate with client staff and internal design team as directed by senior engineering staff.
Skills/Requirements
  1. A bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related scientific field, or equivalent work experience.
  2. Professional registration (P.E., L.S., etc.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates.
  3. 8+ years of experience in civil engineering related to commercial land development projects.
  4. Thorough understanding of project accounting and demonstrated ability to manage schedules and budgets for multiple projects.
  5. Experience in marketing and supervising the technical work of others.
  6. Working knowledge of technical and office support software required for the position.
  7. Professional attitude towards clients and internal staff.
  8. Effective communication skills for daily tasks and assignments.
  9. Willingness to help others meet critical deadlines and achieve professional working relationships.
