The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Civil Engineer / Project Manager to lead land development and infrastructure projects from concept through completion. This role offers the opportunity to work on exciting, high-impact projects while mentoring junior staff and building lasting client relationships. The position is based in our Grand Rapids, MI or Scottsdale, AZ offices, with potential for remote work in expanding markets.

Future expansion plans include Northern Arizona, Idaho, San Diego (CA), Kalamazoo (MI), and San Antonio (TX). Initially, the role will be primarily remote with occasional in-person meetings and site visits, transitioning to more in-office work as local offices are established.

What You’ll Do

  1. Lead the planning, design, entitlement, and construction phases of civil engineering projects across multiple sectors.
  2. Manage scope, budget, schedule, and quality to ensure successful project delivery.
  3. Prepare and review proposals, contracts, budgets, reports, drawings, and technical specifications.
  4. Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
  5. Oversee site development, roadways, water supply systems, sewer collection systems, stormwater management, and drainage design.
  6. Conduct site inspections and provide technical support throughout project execution.
  7. Serve as the primary client liaison, maintaining strong communication and building lasting partnerships.
  8. Mentor and guide project teams, fostering professional development.
  9. Champion continuous improvement in project processes and engineering practices.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 7+ years of civil engineering and project management experience, with a strong background in land development.
  • Proven success delivering complex projects on time and within budget.
  • Strong knowledge of site development, grading, utilities, and stormwater management.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and relevant engineering software (e.g., HEC-RAS).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Occasional travel for site visits as needed.
