Job summary

Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in Columbus, OH is seeking a Civil Engineering Principal to lead project teams delivering land development plans for commercial, industrial, institutional and residential clients.

Job description

As a Civil Engineering Principal for Civil & Environmental Consultants, Inc. (CEC) in our Columbus, OH office, you'll manage project teams to create land development plans for our commercial, industrial, institutional, and residential clients. From a hospital parking lot, to an entire lifestyle shopping center, you'll take part in managing projects, reviewing work products, quality control, client interfacing, budgeting, and mentoring and supervising junior engineers. In managing junior engineers, you will review the design aspects which will include site layouts, grading plans, stormwater management facilities, water quality best management practices, and utilities. Interacting with clients, contractors, local government officials, you'll impact the whole project - from conceptual and design phases, through the regulatory review process, bidding, and construction, all the way to the grand opening.

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 14+ years of experience working in the Land Development Sector
  • Professional Engineering License (P.E.)
  • Ability to provide a technical review of Civil Engineering deliverables
  • Proven experience in client engagement, networking, and business development
  • Experience preparing proposals and overseeing end‑to‑end project execution
  • Demonstrated proficiency in professional written and verbal communication
  • Ability to develop and mentor staff
