Job summary

Tighe & Bond is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to join the Site Civil Design Team in Westfield, MA. You will assist with data collection, CAD drafting, and basic design tasks while learning from experienced engineers in a collaborative, hybrid work environment.

The internship emphasizes hands-on project participation, mentorship, and growth opportunities within a respected NE consulting firm that values sustainability and community impact.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Hands-on interest in engineering data collection and design processes.
• Willingness to learn and contribute on multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Research, compile, and examine a wide variety of project-related data.
• Assist staff with various projects and/or field assignments.
• Perform computer-aided drafting tasks and create basic plans in AutoCAD.
• Perform engineering calculations under the direction of an engineer.
• Prepare written communications including emails, memoranda, field reports, and specifications.

Our Land Use Team and ProjectsNearly 120 professional engineers strong and recent recipients of multiple ACEC Engineering Excellence and ASCE Project Awards, our senior technical and project management leaders have earned an outstanding reputation with private, state, and local government clients.We assist clients from the initial conceptual stages of a project through schematic design, design development, permitting, construction documents, bidding, and construction oversight.Well versed in local, state, and federal regulations and permitting requirements, as well as ever evolving climate change impacts and concerns, we strive to incorporate sustainability and resiliency into our site plans and designs.

What You’ll Be Doing

What You Will Need

• Currently enrolled in an Associate’s or Bachelor’s program pursuing a degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
• Previous and relevant work experience
• Intellectual curiosity and a desire to solve engineering problems
• Flexibility, a positive attitude, and open-mindedness

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with design software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or HydroCAD
• At least 2 years of completed coursework in a college level academic program
• Previous internship experience in engineering, design, or consulting
