LJA Transportation’s Civil Engineering Internship in McKinney, TX is a fully in-person Summer program that runs mid-May through early August. Interns work 40 hours per week alongside seasoned professionals on real projects and gain exposure to field operations and design tasks.

You’ll develop technical and professional skills, receive mentorship, and participate in Lunch & Learn and networking events that support your growth and career launch.

Qualifications

• Candidates must have completed at least one year of college and be pursuing a BS in Civil or Environmental Engineering.
• Strong work ethic and motivated student with solid academics.
• Good organizational and written/oral communication skills.
• Ability to work in a team and attention to detail.

• Perform engineering assignments under direction from experienced engineers.
• Shadow operations and learn project phases.

Our Summer Internship Program runs from mid-May through the first week of August and is a fully in-person experience, Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week. As an LJA intern, you'll gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced professionals and contributing to real-world projects. POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a Civil Engineering Intern at LJA Transportation, you will be able to explore our exciting and entrepreneurial culture will allow you to think creatively, solve problems, and meet the needs of our clients daily.

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

• Perform engineering assignments with direction from experienced engineers
• Spend time shadowing actual operations and learn about project phases
• Will have unique assignments that support larger projects as well as experience the day-to-day workings of engineering
• Experience our culture and participate in social engagement activities and learn about our sectors and services

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

• Candidates must have completed at least one year of college and pursuing a Bachelor of Science, Civil or Environmental Engineering is required.

IDEALLY, YOU SHOULD ALSO HAVE:

• Great work-ethic and are a highly motivated student with a strong academic performance
• Have sincere desire to gain experience in and knowledge of the company and industry
• Good organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
• Focused and attention to detail with ability to identify discrepancies
• Collaborate and work well in a team environment
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially MS Excel
