Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Transmission & Distribution intern to assist with filing, data entry, documentation, and PowerPoint presentations at our Wallingford, CT location. The role supports responses to general questions and participates in continuous improvement by analyzing data and presenting solutions to project concerns.

The internship emphasizes ABET-accredited program alignment, active campus or community involvement, and strong communication and analytical skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field is required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship or related consulting experience preferred.

A Brief Overview

Transmission & Distribution

The Transmission & Distribution group is responsible for the planning and design of electrical transmission projects in power delivery, including overhead transmission, underground transmission, distribution systems, substation design, telecommunication & network engineering, pipelines, renewable power integration, security, grid modernization and more.

• Assist with tasks that may include filing, scanning, data entry, documentation and Power Point presentation.
• Assist with responses to general questions.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently (i.e., without time limitations, without restrictions or without need for work sponsorship) in the country where this position is located.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Complies with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Compensation

$19.00-35.00 Hourly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The final agreed upon compensation is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location.
