Job summary

STV is seeking an enthusiastic Civil Engineering Intern in New York for an experiential internship that blends office and field work. Candidates should be pursuing a Civil Engineering degree and can participate full-time for at least 3 months, with hybrid in-office requirements three days per week.

The role offers exposure to design, feasibility studies, and coordination with architects, environmental engineers, and contractors, using AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MicroStation.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.
• ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program or equivalent, and active enrollment.
• NCEES equivalent recognition is preferred.
• Internship requires in-office presence 3 days per week and participation for at least 3 months.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing civil engineering projects from concept to completion in compliance with standards.
• Collaborate with architects, environmental engineers, and stakeholders to integrate project elements.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address issues and ensure project success.
• Support feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform design.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, narratives, and development applications.
• Contribute to engineering designs using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Learn and apply current engineering standards on assigned projects.
• Prepare technical proposals and documentation for projects.
• Perform additional tasks assigned by the supervisor to support goals.

Job description

STV is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Civil Engineering Intern to join our team. This internship offers an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate-level candidates to work alongside our experienced team, learn, and contribute to meaningful projects. This hybrid position requires at least 3 days a week in the office. Preference will be given to those who can participate in the internship for at least 3 months and can work full-time.

Responsibilities

• Assist in designing civil engineering projects from conceptualization through to completion, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and project specifications.
• Collaborate with architects, environmental engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate various project elements seamlessly.
• Interface with clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies to address project-related issues and ensure project success.
• Provide support in conducting feasibility studies, site investigations, and risk assessments to inform project design and development.
• Assist in preparing technical reports, narratives, and development applications.
• Contribute to the development of engineering designs and work with engineering software such as AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
• Learn and apply current engineering standards and procedures to assigned projects.
• Provide assistance with the preparation of technical proposals and documentation for engineering projects.
• Perform other tasks assigned by the supervisor to support project goals and team objectives.

Required

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil Engineering at an ABET-accredited University or NCEES equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of MicroStation, Civil 3D, AutoCAD, and/or Open Roads Designer.
• Experience in the architecture/engineering/construction management industry.

Compensation Range

$43,391.00 - $49,308.00
