Job summary

Qualifications

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Roadway) to join our Transportation team in San Antonio, TX in Summer 2027, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain hands‑on experience in large‑scale infrastructure projects and apply your academic knowledge to real‑world transportation engineering challenges. You will assist our team in various aspects of highway/roadway design and learn about industry‑standard procedures and software.

Project opportunities may include supporting the design of interstate highways, freeway interchanges, and major arterial roads. You'll work alongside experienced Engineers and Project Managers, gaining valuable insights into transportation engineering.

Your Responsibilities May Include

• Assist in basic highway/roadway geometric design calculations
• Help prepare technical reports and design documentation
• Utilizing CADD to prepare various engineering drawings, layouts, and/or models to communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedures
• Familiarize with local, state, and federal design standards and requirements

Here's what you'll need

• In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Interest in Transportation Engineering
• Interest in roadway geometry
• Interest in 3d design software’s
• Must be at least a rising Junior
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office program

Ideally, You Will Have

• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or ORD
• Ability to communicate with all levels of management within Jacobs
• Self‑driven time management and organizational skills
• A previous internship related to your field of study
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future

The base salary range for this position is $40,000.00 to $62,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job‑related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
