Job summary

Jacobs in Yakima, WA is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Roadway Design) to gain hands-on experience on large-scale infrastructure projects, assisting in roadway, highway and transit design and learning industry-standard software.

Your impact

Jacobs is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern (Roadway Design) to join our Transportation team in YAKIMA, WA for the Summer of 2027, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our transportation clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to gain hands-on experience in large-scale infrastructure projects and apply your academic knowledge to real-world civil engineering challenges. You will assist our team in various aspects of roadway, highway, and transit design work and learn about industry-standard procedures and software.

Project opportunities may include supporting the design of highways, intersections, safety improvements, and local roads. You'll work alongside experienced Engineers and Project Managers, gaining valuable insights into the field of roadway engineering.

Your Responsibilities May Include

• Helping prepare technical reports and design documentation
• Participating in site visits to observe roadway conditions and data collection processes
• Assisting in roadway geometric design calculations and layout
• Supporting the development of highway plans and estimates.

Here’s what you’ll need

• In pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
• Completed coursework related to transportation engineering or highway design
• Must be at least a rising Junior

Ideally, you will also have

• 3.0 GPA or greater
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil3D, or MicrostationMicroStation software
• A previous internship related to your field of study
• Excellent communication and teamwork skill
• Authorization to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship, now or in the future.

• The base salary range for this position is $47,300.00 to $62,000.00; though will be paid hourly based on hours worked. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
