Job summary

HDR is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern for Summer 2027. You will gain real-world experience on exciting projects and work under the supervision of a professional or Project Manager.

You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, assist with drawings, models, renderings, and construction documents, and participate in design reviews and site visits as you grow your engineering skills within our employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Engineering program.
• Possess strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.
• Preferred: 2 years completed toward degree with 3.0+ GPA.
• Experience with Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SketchUp or other design software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Gain real-world experience on exciting projects.
• Connect with recent college graduates and our company leaders through mentoring and young professionals programs.
• Apply standard engineering techniques and procedures.
• Perform assignments under the direct supervision of a professional or Project Manager.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams in the planning, design, and delivery of building projects.
• Assist with the preparation of drawings, models, renderings, specifications, and construction documents.
• Collaborate with architects, mechanical, electrical, structural, plumbing, and other design professionals.
• Participate in project meetings, design reviews, and site visits.
• Conduct research on building systems, codes, sustainability initiatives, and emerging technologies.
• Utilize industry-standard software and digital tools to support project development.
• Perform other duties as needed.
• Internship is for Summer 2027.
