Job summary

NorthPoint Development offers an in-office Civil Engineering Internship in Kansas City, MO, spanning 8–10 weeks. The program immerses students in the fast-paced real estate and development world, with hands-on projects and exposure to site planning, grading and utilities.

As part of the internship, you will learn from licensed Professional Engineers, collaborate across teams, and gain experience supporting development platforms in industrial, data center, multifamily and retail sectors.

Qualifications

• Completed at least two semesters toward obtaining a bachelor's degree in civil engineering.
• Interest in site development, stormwater management and/or transportation design.
• Eager to learn and master Civil 3D and stormwater modeling software.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineers, planners and surveyors in a fast-paced, stimulating team environment.
• Learn to conceptualize site plans, define site grades and utility layouts for large projects using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Enhance entitlement and permitting submittal documents and communicate designs with municipalities and contractors.
• Be at the center of a team of developers, reporting recommendations for creating developments and revitalizing properties.

Job description

This is an in-office position in Kansas City, MO.

The NorthPoint Development Internship Program is an 8-10 week experience designed to immerse students in the fast-paced world of real estate and development. The Civil Engineering Intern will work on meaningful projects, gaining valuable exposure to the industry while building skills that will carry into their future careers.

What You'll Do

• Collaborate with other engineers, planners and surveyors in a fast-paced, stimulating and inspiring team environment.
• Obtain valuable experience toward your future career, working with and learning from licensed Professional Engineers, and build your expertise while solving interesting design challenges supporting NorthPoint's industrial, data center, multifamily and retail development platforms.
• Learn to conceptualize site plans, define site grades and utility layouts for large projects and detail those final designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Enhance your AutoCAD abilities by preparing entitlement and permitting submittal documents, and learn to effectively communicate your designs with municipalities and contractors.
• Be at the center of a team of technically minded developers, reporting your recommendations for how best to create new developments and revitalize abandoned properties to help communities grow and thrive.
