Overview




The Sierra Lobo Rocket Technology and Engineering Services II (RTES II) contract provides advise and assist services (A&AS) at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) at Edwards AFB, California. AFRL conducts rocket propulsion research, as well as developing associated test processes and facilities.

Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. Our customers include the Department of Defense (DoD), the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, U.S. Army, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).

This position will be located at Edwards AFB, CA.

Responsibilities




The AFRL Civil Engineering Facility Project Specialist acts as the primary communication facilitator between the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and the Civil Engineering Group (CEG), ensuring seamless information flow and advocacy for AFRL priorities. Embedded within the CEG, this role requires strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. The Facility Project Specialist will work directly with the CEG to collect status updates, identify potential issues, and advocate for AFRL's needs within CEG processes. A background in construction, maintenance, or other civil engineering-related fields, along with prior DoD or Air Force Civil Engineering experience, is highly desired.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful candidate will perform, but is not limited to, the following activities:

    Communication Facilitation:
    • Serve as the primary point of contact between the AFRL CE Liaison and the AF CEG.
    • Attend regular meetings with CEG personnel to gather updates on project status, priorities, and potential issues.
    • Disseminate relevant information to the AFRL Civil Engineering Liaison and other AFRL stakeholders.
    • Facilitate clear and timely communication between AFRL and the CEG, ensuring both organizations are aware of each other's needs and priorities.
  • AFRL Advocacy:
    • Advocate for AFRL's priorities and interests within the CEG, ensuring AFRL requirements are considered in CEG planning and decision-making processes.
    • Represent AFRL in CEG meetings and working groups.
    • Effectively communicate the impact of CEG activities on AFRL operations and research efforts.
    • Proactively identify and address potential conflicts or issues between AFRL and the CEG.
    • Track the progress of AFRL-related work orders and projects within the CEG system.
  • Planning Support:
    • Participate in AFRL facility planning efforts, providing input on CEG capabilities and constraints.
    • Assist the CEG in their planning efforts, as needed, by providing AFRL-specific information and requirements.





Qualifications




REQUISITE SKILLS:

  • Prior experience working with or within DoD or Air Force Civil Engineering highly desired.
  • Solid understanding of construction, maintenance, or other civil engineering project planning and execution.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment and build strong relationships.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate's degree or 5+ years of equivalent experience in construction management, facilities management, or a related field.
  • Position may require occasional travel.
  • On Site Work. Telework or Remote Work is not permitted.
  • Flex schedule 9/80.
  • MUST be a United States Citizen.
  • MUST possess or obtain a DoD security clearance.
