Job summary

Progressive Companies is seeking a Civil Engineering Designer I to help design and produce site, utility, road, and traffic plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D. You will work alongside engineers and P.E.s who mentor you through the project lifecycle, gaining hands-on exposure to plan design, cross-discipline coordination, and quality review.

You’ll rotate through deliverables and collaboration, building fluency in Civil 3D and related tools, with a path toward a Designer II role and PE licensure within

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET/EAC-accredited program or equivalent for professional licensure.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, load and unload vehicle, and drive personal or company vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Build core design and documentation skills across civil project types such as site plans, utility plans, road designs, traffic signal plans, and right-of-way plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and P.E.s and learn through mentorship as you progress toward a Designer II role and PE licensure.
• Coordinate across disciplines, develop project specifications, and align deliverables with company standards.
• Review work for accuracy and quality-control early to prevent issues reaching clients, while maturing judgment over time.
• Develop CAD/BIM models for roads, utilities, and site plans and perform drainage, grading, and foundation calculations.
