Job summary

GCW, Inc. is seeking a Land Development Designer in Reno, NV to design land development and public works projects. You will prepare construction drawings, grading plans, street improvements, and utilities, working closely with Project Managers and CAD Technicians.

Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills are required. This on-site role in Reno requires authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of Civil Engineering experience using AutoCAD Civil 3D.
• High school diploma and a related technical certificate is required.
• Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares improvement plans and calculations for projects under the direction of a Project Manager.
• Assists in research studies and information gathering for designs.
• Prepares engineering drawings, study plans, and tentative maps.
• Maintains organized files related to designs and projects progress.
• Coordinates with and delegates tasks to technical staff and sub-consultants.
• Assists in creating client exhibits.
• Interfaces with agencies under supervision for processing and plan checks.
• Attends weekly progress meetings and generates progress reports.
• Maintains high quality control.

As a Land Development Designer at GCW, you will have the opportunity to design land development and public works projects. This team member is responsible for preparing construction drawings, grading plans, street improvements, utilities. The Designer works closely with Project Managers and CAD Technicians. This role requires working on-site in Reno, NV. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Essential Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares improvement plans and calculations for specific projects such as single family residential, multi-family, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and institutional engineering projects under the direction of a Project Manager.
• Assists in research studies and information gathering in preparation for specific designs.
• Prepares engineering drawings, study plans, and tentative maps.
• Maintains organized files relating to designs, plans, and projects progression, which facilitates easy access to project information for the Project Manager and other team members as required.
• Coordinates with and delegates appropriate tasks to technical staff, internal departments, and sub-consultants for project components.
• Assists in the creation of exhibits for clients.
• Under supervision, interfaces with agencies (i.e., processing, research and plan checks).
• Attends weekly progress meetings to generate weekly progress reports, to be reviewed and approved by the Project Manager.
• Maintains a high level of quality control.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must be proficient in Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of Land Desktop.
• Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and abide by the company’s CAD procedures for layering and file management.

Education And Experience Requirements

• A high school diploma and a technical school degree/certificate in a related discipline is required.
• Three (3) years of working experience within a Civil Engineering Firm using AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles.
