Job summary

GCW, Inc. seeks a Land Development Designer to create land development and public works drawings in Las Vegas, NV. You will prepare construction drawings, grading plans, street improvements and utilities under project managers and CAD teams.

Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills are required; familiarity with Land Desktop and MS Office is essential, with on-site work in Las Vegas and compliance with company CAD procedures.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and related technical training.
• Three (3) years of Civil Engineering and AutoCAD Civil 3D experience required.
• Proficient with Civil 3D, Land Desktop, and Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares improvement plans and calculations for residential, commercial and institutional projects.
• Prepares engineering drawings, study plans, and tentative maps under PM direction.
• Maintains organized files for project information and progress tracking.
• Coordinates with technical staff, internal departments and sub-consultants on project components.
• Attends progress meetings and generates weekly progress reports for PM review.
• Interfaces with agencies for plan checks and permit processing as directed.

Summary

As a Land Development Designer at GCW, you will have the opportunity to design land development and public works projects. This team member is responsible for preparing construction drawings, grading plans, street improvements, utilities. The Designer works closely with Project Managers and CAD Technicians. Strong AutoCAD Civil 3D skills are necessary.

This role requires working on-site in Las Vegas, NV. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future.

Essential Responsibilities

• Designs and prepares improvement plans and calculations for specific projects such as single family residential, multi-family, commercial, industrial, hospitality, and institutional engineering projects under the direction of a Project Manager.
• Assists in research studies and information gathering in preparation for specific designs.
• Prepares engineering drawings, study plans, and tentative maps.
• Maintains organized files relating to designs, plans, and projects progression, which facilitates easy access to project information for the Project Manager and other team members as required.
• Coordinates with and delegates appropriate tasks to technical staff, internal departments, and sub-consultants for project components.
• Assists in the creation of exhibits for clients.
• Under supervision, interfaces with agencies (i.e., processing, research and plan checks).
• Attends weekly progress meetings to generate weekly progress reports, to be reviewed and approved by the Project Manager.
• Maintains a high level of quality control.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

• Must be proficient in Civil 3D.
• Working knowledge of Land Desktop.
• Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Effective written and verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to learn and abide by the company’s CAD procedures for layering and file management.

Education And Experience Requirements

• A high school diploma and a technical school degree/certificate in a related discipline is required.
• Three (3) years of working experience within a Civil Engineering Firm using AutoCAD Civil 3D software is required.

• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive company vehicles.
