We are looking for a driven, well organized, and client focused Civil Engineering Department Manager to grow our team in the Cary, North Carolina area.

As a Civil Engineering Department Manager you will lead a team of talented civil engineers supporting a broad range of projects from conception through construction. Jacobs provides an end to end engineering solution to our clients where all disciplines, including construction are commonly involved and collaborate for successful project delivery. Your role will be to represent and guide the civil team throughout the design and construction phases as well as providing mentorship to your team for projects of all sizes and levels of design.

We are looking for someone who is comfortable working directly with clients, other managers, and leading a team of professionals. It is important to have a firm grasp of land development, zoning, and building codes, as well as best practices, and construction detailing as needed to guide successful execution. It is equally important to have the ability and eagerness to support your team in all ways to ensure success of the group and individuals. Your knowledge of permitting processes and construction will be highly beneficial.

Here's what you'll need

•Bachelor’s degree or higher–level degree from an ABET accredited engineering school.

•Minimum of 15 years of applicable professional experience.

•Professional Engineering license in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.

•Experience in organizing and leading a civil engineering / landscape architecture team through the implementation of the project execution process – including Concept Design, Basis of Design, Detail Design, Procurement, and Construction Support.

•Advanced knowledge and experience in the design process, construction documentation, construction administration, materials and methods of construction, as well as land development, zoning, and building codes.

•Advanced understanding of civil engineering design and their interrelationships with other disciplines.

•Experience performing construction administration activities – responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, preparing field observation reports, and punchlisting.

•Willingness to work remotely and engage virtually with team members in different geographic locations.

•Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities; coordinating work with engineering disciplines and specialty consultants; independently as well as collaboratively.

•Ability to perform quality checking or accept and implement quality checking by others.

•Experience supervising the work of other design professionals.

Preferred –

•Focus on Life Sciences projects including but not limited to Pharmaceutical Manufacturing, Light Industrial, and Light Chemical.

•Proficiency in 3-D visualization tools such as SketchUp.

•Site planning and land development experience.

•Familiarity with LEED and / or sustainable strategies.

•Proficiency in StormCAD and PondPack

•Working knowledge of AutoCAD (or MicroStation), Revit, Civil 3D, and AutoTURN

Ideally, You’ll Also Have:

•Involvement in professional and /or community associations.

•Ability to contribute to the development of new ideas, techniques, and standards.

•Strong interpersonal skills – speaking, writing, listening, including client presentation skills.

•Proficiency with MS Office, PowerPoint, and Bluebeam Revu.

The base salary range for this position is $140,800.00 to $200,000.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
